Pieter comments: It's an attempt to recreate an IBM-style patent licensing business and it will probably, IMO, fail because it ignores the way that small independent trolls can totally outmanoeuver the larger stupider trolls. The first time a company that has paid the $50m fee is successfully sued for infringement, the whole scheme will collapse. Having these patents has not saved Microsoft from lawsuits.
